Career Strategy Coach
From Athlete to Corporate Executive to Career Strategy Coach
I gained a lot of mental strength and endurance playing college basketball.
Athletics allowed me to build and utilize my mental stamina to go beyond what I thought physically possible.
When I entered the corporate world, I wanted to apply some of these same learnings.
I rose quickly in my career and was promoted 8 times in my first 10 years in corporate. I worked for start-ups, mid-size, and enterprise organizations. I was busy building teams and developing high-performing individuals.
But, I also realized a bigger problem, personally. While I had the mental training from athletics, I still didn't have the resources and help I needed to navigate all the things to come in my career.
I still had big questions on my mind:
How would I balance starting a family and having a higher pressure job?
Was the work and life I wanted even possible?
How could I take control over the pressure and stress in my career, even when I had a "good job"?
I felt stuck many times mid-way through my career.
Then, two things happened.
I was exposed to coaching for the first time in my career AND I put together a plan.
Why did it take me 10 years to see the power of coaching? I had heard about executive coaches early in my career (did I qualify?) and I had seen many advertisements for career coaches throughout my career (yet I didn't need help on my resume or with interviews).
I couldn't seem to find anything in between.
No career strategy.
There was no one who sat me down and wanted to map out what I truly wanted in my career... without ignoring what I wanted as a wife, a mom (future and then actual), or heck, even as a person with passions and hobbies outside of work.
I think about what could have been different 10 years before if I had access to coaching.
How much time could I have saved?
How much better and in-control would I have felt?
What experiences could I have gained if I had confidently approached them?
I founded ASPIRE to bring knowledge and results to an under-served group of high-performing individuals, looking to advance their career without sacrificing balance.
My mission is to bring career strategy that coaches the whole person - the work, and the life.
Only when we examine our whole selves can we truly create the life we want to lead.
I now own and run my own business. I lose myself in hours of doing work that absolutely lights me up. My career is aligned with the variety, fulfillment, and independence I value most.
And I can still make it to football practice to watch my kids play. And you'll definitely see me on a mountain trail on the weekends. It's all in balance. ;)
I'm so excited to bring my past in leadership, coaching, and balance to help those longing for more in their career, while also maintaining balance.
